SEAFORTH STUNS AT GRAND OLE OPRY DEBUT

Tom Jordan: Our Opry debut experience was everything we could’ve ever dreamed for. We’ve been going to the Opry for years now ever since we first started travelling to Nashville and working on this whole Seaforth thing, and so to stand up on stage and perform, I think for both of us, was a very surreal moment and a real life moment I guess. It was kind of one of, if not the biggest musical night of our lives, and I think it’s just something that’s going to stick with us forever, without a doubt.
Mitch Thompson: I think the circle is a huge part of the whole Opry experience. Two weeks, actually a couple months prior to doing our debut, we were given a tour of the whole place and we learned about the significance of the circle and that it came from the original Ryman. And we were kind of waiting, we didn’t want to step in it yet because we knew that once we stepped in it, that was going to be our performance and we wanted to save that moment. And to be able to share that little circle with so many greats that have been up there before us, it just made everything so significant and feel real in that moment. So Tom and I kind of stepped in it at the same time during sound check and it just kind of made everything feel real, like “We’re about to play this Opry thing.” It was pretty serious.
Tom Jordan: I think everything about it was obviously memorable. The whole experience—the energy in the building, from the second you step foot in there, and you check in, and you walk down the halls, and you see all the members of the Opry, and the changing rooms and everything else—it’s all really surreal. We had the debut artist dressing room that every other debut artist has had, and it’s a really cool experience. And then for me, as much as performing on stage was obviously the highlight, one of the coolest things I’ve ever done was stand in the back room with the band in the room behind stage where you run through it like 10 minutes before you go on stage, you rehearse the songs. And hearing the band come in, and they’d learned all the parts, and there’s pedal steel and there’s mandolin, and we had our bass player and drummer with us and everything. That was just so surreal and so cool that these guys are world-class musicians, they do this for a living at the Opry, and to play with the Opry house band was such a crazy experience, and they killed it, they sounded amazing. That was a real highlight for me personally.
Mitch Thompson: I think one of the coolest things about the whole experience for both Tom and I is we actually had our moms out here for it. They came to visit and had been staying with us, and we were trying to plan or make sure we could have them see a show while they were out here, and the fact that we got to do our Opry debut while they were both here was absolutely amazing. They’ve been such a huge influence to us obviously, but the reason that both Tom and I can be living in the US based on the fact that they’ve supported us our whole lives. So it was a really full circle moment to have them witness us have our debut, and then come out onto the stage with us and share the moment with us. So we were absolutely over the moon and I think that’s something they will obviously never forget, and we certainly won’t.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Rising RCA Nashville duo Seaforth stunned the Grand Ole Opry crowd Friday, making a noteworthy debut on the famed radio show with a special family cameo. Performing “Taken Your Picture” and debut single “Love That,” Seaforth (Tom Jordan and Mitch Thompson) also welcomed their mothers, who made the trek from Sydney, AUS to witness the milestone moment, to the stage. The duo recently released a reimagined version of “Love That,” with an artistic accompanying video shot in Brooklyn, NY. Listen/watch here. Seaforth continue to make a name for themselves as breakout entertainers, filling the summer with high-profile festival performances – including CMA Fest, Tortuga, Faster Horses, LakeShake, and Seven Peaks – as well as opening for stars such as Kane Brown and Brett Young. They’ll join Mitchell Tenpenny for the ANYTHING SHE SAYS TOUR kicking off Oct. 10 in Nashville, named for their recently released collaboration, which is climbing the chart at SiriusXM The Highway. Seaforth is childhood friends Tom Jordan and Mitch Thompson, who grew up together in the Sydney, Australia suburb from where they take their name. Predicted to be “a breakout duo of 2019” by Taste of Country, the multi-talented pair recently released their buzzed-about debut single “Love That” to country radio, as well as with their four-song Love That EP which they co-produced alongside award-winning producer Dann Huff. The 2019 MusicRow Discovery Artist of the Year nominees are steadily earning a name for themselves on the road with hitmakers including Kane Brown, Brett Young and more, and are actively recording their debut full-length album on RCA Nashville. |
