Walker Hayes: Fitness tips for those “90’s Country” Abs (Audio)

Walker Hayes talks about taking his shirt off for the music video to his latest single, “90’s Country.”  And, with 2019 New Year resolution fitness goals in full swing Hayes shares his advice on achieving those 6-pack abs.

“Dude, I am a core freak. I love to go heavy and do all those pretty muscle things. But you know, if you only have a minute… Do some pull-ups, push-ups. But hit that core, you know? And let’s be honest like the only reason I work out is so when I take my shirt off at the pool, I look cool. You know what I mean? I ain’t in it about- Like I’m not about to eat broccoli and detox and stuff. I don’t care about that. Like, I just wanna look cool. And uh, one of my goals, you know since we’ve been getting together, is I want to be in like a fitness magazine…like a Men’s Health or something. My team is always like… “Walk, you’re never going to make it if you don’t take your shirt off.” You know? And that’s nerve wrecking. Even if you like what’s underneath. It’s weird. In my early 20’s, I never had a shirt on. Now that I’m a dad, I’m like oh no…it’s just too obvious. And they were like, “we have this scene we want you to do.” And man, doing it…Oh my god, felt like a cheese muffin. I mean, we did it like three times. And I was like this can’t be cool. And then when I saw it… I was like, “Dude! It looks great!” And so now, when I’m playing the video for people I’m like, “hey just wanna warn you…shirt comes off around two minutes…so, you know here it comes.” And man, I’m proud of it. I worked. I worked hard. I wouldn’t say I dieted, but I hit the gym with my manager, Rob, man religiously. We hit it because we knew there was going to be an opportunity. So, who knows? Maybe some cool stuff will come of that. Dude, maybe it will make people like the record, the song, or the video more. Who knows!”
