TYLER FARR: A Little More Lightheartedness

audio

Get well wishes go out to Tyler Farr, who’s currently on the mend following microlaryngeal surgery to remove a polyp on his vocal cords. This means that Tyler will be off the road for a few months — and he’s currently on total vocal rest during the initial phase of his recovery — but when we spoke with Tyler not long ago, he said he’s glad that his new hit, “Better in Boots,” is showing a different side of his personality. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • Tyler first became aware of some vocal issues while touring with Jason Aldean last summer, with the problem identified during a severe bout of bronchitis at the end of 2015. Tyler’s expected to make a full recovery and be back on tour sounding better than ever this spring following vocal rest and working through the recovery process with the medical team at Nashville’s Vanderbilt Voice Clinic.
  • In a press announcement, Tyler — who is an operatically trained vocalist — said, “This is the last thing I would’ve ever expected. I sing hard, and I give it everything I have every night, but I really believed I was putting my training to work. After a number-one song, an awesome tour with Jason and getting engaged, this is not how I thought I was going to be winding up 2015.”
  • Regarding cancelling shows for his treatment and recovery, Tyler shared, “I know what it takes to get out there and really deliver. I hate cancelling shows, especially the upcoming tour with my buddy Lee Brice, but I never want to give the fans less than everything… And I know the sooner I let my body heal, the sooner I can get back out there – and the fewer problems I will have in the long run. To me, it’s never about the next few days, but doing the right thing overall, and now I’m under doctor’s orders.”
  • Happy Birthday! Healing happy birthday wishes to Tyler, who celebrates his big day this Friday, February 5th!
  • “Better in Boots” is the newest favorite from Tyler’s album, Suffer in Peace, which also includes the number-one smash, “A Guy Walks into a Bar.”
  • And for a lighthearted clip, we offer Tyler Farr on vocal rest. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

“You gotta have ‘Guy Walks into a Bar,’ ‘Whiskey in My Water,’ ‘Redneck Crazy,’ you know, mix it up. I think it’s good because it’s a side of me, a little more lightheartedness. You know, sometimes meet & greet or people are kinda timid around me, like, ’cause I talk like Sling Blade, or whatever you want to say (laughs), Clint Eastwood, Rocky‘s trainer. But, you know, I’m a fun, outgoin’ guy and like to, you know, party, have fun with the best of ’em, and so it’s good to have a catchy song like that that’s a summer anthem, if you will, ’cause we haven’t had that yet.”
