TRISHA YEARWOOD: My Perfect Love

audio

On Valentine’s Day this weekend, husband and wife Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will celebrate the day playing the last of a three-night, four-show run in South Carolina as part of Garth’s ongoing world tour. And one hit that seems especially appropriate for Trisha’s Valentine’s Day show is her smash, “Perfect Love,” a song that she now sees very differently than when she first recorded it. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • “Perfect Love” is just one of the favorites featured on Trisha’s PrizeFighter: Hit after Hit, a 16-song collection that includes 10 classic Trisha hits, together with six new songs. Look for it in stores now and available digitally on GhostTunes.

audio  Trisha Yearwood says that she found her “Perfect Love.” (:52)
“‘Perfect Love’ is one of the most positive, happy, upbeat songs I’ve ever done. I often say that I, in my career out of the hundred and somethin’ songs I’ve recorded, I think I have three happy ones. (laughs) I like depressing songs ’cause they just make me happy. I know that sounds really weird, but, when I do my live show, I tell people, ‘There are two or three really happy songs, and we’re doing them all tonight so that you won’t be thoroughly depressed for your whole entertainment experience.’ But ‘Perfect Love’ is just that song. And I really didn’t live it until I met Garth, and — not met Garth, but married Garth, I really didn’t know…I thought I was happy, until I started seeing him in that way and realized ‘Oh, this is…’ — and no offense to anyone I was ever with before, but I just didn’t know this existed. Now when I sing ‘Perfect Love,’ I get it. When I recorded it, I really didn’t know. I thought, ‘What a nice thought, but that doesn’t really ever happen to anybody,’ and now I live it.” (laughs)
