TENILLE TOWNES DEBUTS AT THE LEGENDARY GRAND OLE OPRY (Audio) Tenille describes her Opry debut in one word:

“Describing the Grand Ole Opry debut in one word is very hard, but I would say that the word ‘dream’ comes to mind.  It was such a full circle after seeing so many shows there with my family and anybody how would come visit Nashville from Canada.  We’d always go sit in the audience at the Grand Ole Opry.  And, I would sit there and imagine what it might feel like to stand up there some day.  And um, it was a very cool dream come true to have the full circle moment happen.  lso to get to have my family there to celebrate that with me was a pretty crazy wild dream.  I’m very thankful we had that together.”

TENILLE TOWNES DEBUTS AT THE LEGENDARY GRAND OLE OPRY (Audio)Tenille talks about her Canadian friends and family making the trip to Nashville for her Opry debut:

“So my family and my friends and my hometown community back in Alberta always used to joke that if I ever made it to play up on the Grand Ole Opry stage that they were all going to come to Nashville.  And, they weren’t really joking because they all showed up.  So, 140 of them decided to rent a Canadian North plane and took it all the way from Alberta and flew straight to Nashville.  And, seeing them come off the escalators at the Nashville airport was a moment I will never forget.  I felt so overwhelming and surrounded by so much love by all of these people who have believed in this path from the beginning. To have them show up here for this moment at the Grand Ole Opry debut meant the world to me.  It was so cool to get to share that with them!”

Nashville, Tenn. – Columbia Nashville emerging singer-songwriter Tenille Townes fulfilled a lifelong dream on Saturday evening by making her debut at the legendary Grand Ole Opry. The 24 year-old Grand Prairie, Alberta native performed “Where You Are” and “Jersey On The Wall” – two standout tracks from her recently released debut EP Living Room Worktapes. Townes stepped into the legendary circle with more than 140 friends and family from her Canadian hometown, who traveled to Nashville to celebrate the milestone, cheering from the audience.

Celebrated as “Nashville’s newest voice” (NPR) and “a formidable new singer-songwriter” (American Songwriter), Townes sets out with Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town on their Bandwagon Tour in July.

ABOUT TENILLE TOWNES

Poised for a breakout 2018, Townes introduced her debut EP Living Room Worktapes to music fans this Spring and has quickly emerged as one of Nashville’s most promising new artists. The 24-year old Canadian native began her music journey at 5 when she began singing and first picked up the songwriting pen at age 14. As a teenager, Townes traveled to Nashville, Tenn. for songwriting trips and continued to grow in her artistry – with candor and empathy in her writing. At 18, Townes desired to connect her music with her heart for humanity and launched her own charitable music tour, Play It Forward, where she logged 35,000 miles leading leadership and music workshops for students throughout Canada. Soon after, Townes drove her Toyota Tacoma the 45-hour journey from Canada to Nashville in 2013 to pursue her music career and quickly immersed herself in the heart of the city’s songwriting community. She has since emerged as a dynamic and genre-defying artist for her timeless, lyrical wisdom and bluesy, soulful voice; signing to Sony Music Nashville and Big Yellow Dog Music. Readied for a breakout 2018, Townes has been tapped by Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town for the country superstars’ co-headlining The Bandwagon Tour launching July 2018 and joins Bobby Bones on tour this fall. This Spring Townes made her Sundance Film Festival and SXSW debut and shared the stage with Devin Dawson, Maren Morris and Steve Moakler on the road. In between introducing her music to fans on the road, Townes is currently writing and recording her debut LP with producer, Jay Joyce, at his Neon Cross studio in Nashville, Tenn.
