MATT CHASE: So we wrote “Little Bit of You” with our good friend and producer Greg Bates, and honestly the story is kind of interesting, it was kind of one of those days we went into the writers room, it was just me, him and Chris, and we could not land on anything. We tossed titles back and forth and some melodies, it was just one of those days where nothing was quite hitting at the right moment.
CHRIS ROGERS: That’s just how it goes sometimes, but I remember we left the room for something, and came back in, and Greg had that title, he had this little groove and he sang that one line of it and we knew immediately that we were on to something right there.
MATT CHASE: He just had that “hey guys, I have this thing, it’s ‘a little bit of you goes a long way,’” and I remember Chris and I looked and each other and we were locked in, and the rest is history.

CHRIS ROGERS: “Along Those Lines” is a song we wrote with Greg Bates and Driver Williams, we actually wrote this one over Zoom back in the heart of quarantine during the summer. It’s a title that I had and I brought it to these guys, and they helped us work it out into what it is right now.
MATT CHASE: Yeah I’ll tell you it was one of those things, Chris is from a real small town in Washington, Georgia, and I’m from right outside Charleston, South Carolina, so not so small of a town. We knew when we wrote this song, we wanted to try and make it a little bit of both of us, so we kinda took bits and pieces of both of those growing up experiences and kind of made it into almost one fictitious place, and I’ll tell you it was one of the funnest things we’ve been a part of writing, and I’m glad we’re getting to put it out, and we really hope you guys love it.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Rising country duo Southerland continues its introduction to fans with two new songs available everywhere today (1/29). “Along Those Lines” and “Little Bit of You” follow their 2020 “irresistible debut single” (Rolling Stone) “Thing Is” and is a continuation of Southerland’s “rollicking, good-natured [sound]” (Music Row) .  The duo, comprised of musicians and songwriters Matt Chase and Chris Rogers, releases this two-pack of songs through River House Artists/Sony Music Nashville.

“These two songs represent the direction we want to take our music,” shares Southerland. “It’s not only who we are, it’s what we are. We’ve had nine years of ups and downs working to solidify the right sound and style for us. We couldn’t be more excited to show everyone what we’ve been working on.”

Southerland bonded over their southern small-town upbringings, which they inject into the heart of their traditional storytelling and musical foundation. In “Along Those Lines,” Southerland goes back to their ‘90s country roots with references to country staples Tim McGraw and Alan Jackson. While “Little Bit of You” reflects the duo’s innate ability to melodically blend modern and classic country into the perfect feel-good love song to unwind to at the end of a long day.

“Little Bit of You” was co-written by Southerland’s Matt Chase and Chris Rogers along with Greg Bates. “Along Those Lines” was co-written by Chase, Rogers, Bates and Driver Williams. Bates produced both songs.

Matt Chase and Chris Rogers wrote and collaborated for years and officially teamed up as Southerland in 2019 when they signed as a duo with River House Artists/Sony Music Nashville. Since meeting at a songwriting session in 2016, Southerland has shared the stage with artists such as Luke Combs, Lauren Alaina, Eli Young Band, Brantley Gilbert, Montgomery Gentry, Craig Morgan, Darius Rucker, Morgan Wallen and many more.

“It’s been so fun to watch these guys do what they love and we love, too. They have worked really hard and I am excited and thankful we get to help them finally get these amazing songs out. And it’s just the beginning!” – Lynn Oliver-Cline, Founder/CEO River House Artists.
