The fall leaves are falling, so the holiday season can’t be too far away, and this week marked the release of the CD, A Very Country Christmas, available exclusively at Target. Among the album’s eight tracks are a half-dozen previously unreleased recordings, including Kellie Pickler‘s version of the classic “Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree,” originally made famous by Brenda Lee. Kellie recorded the song this past summer, so she decided to improvise a little holiday spirit in the recording studio. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

“We had fun cutting the song. We cut it this summer, and so, of course, it’s kind of hard to get in the Christmas spirit in July, so I brought in a little Christmas tree that had the lights wrapped around it and little ornaments and (laughs) I brought that tree in, and the musicians were laughin’. I’m like, ‘Well, I figured we’d need a little inspiration, so have my little Charlie Brown Christmas tree,’ and we set it in the middle of the studio, and we had all the instruments set up around it, and we played ‘Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree’ around the Christmas tree.”
