RYAN HURD: Sonic Bar

Ryan Hurd is in the process of writing and recording his debut album, which features his first single, “Love In A Bar.” Ryan talks about the unique sonic elements that you are exposed to throughout the course of the song, “It comes from this really soft place to this just… after the first chorus it opens up into this wall of sound.” Ryan says the cool part about “Love In A Bar” is that, “it’s like a light switch… it goes from off to on. It goes from soft to really loud, really quickly. And I love that about it.” Catch Ryan singing his debut single on tour this summer when he joins Florida Georgia Line later this month. audio  Ryan Hurd talks about how dynamic “Love In A Bar” is sonically (:55)
“The cool part about ‘Love In A Bar’ as a piece of music, sonically, is how dynamic it is. It comes from this really soft place to this just… after the first chorus it opens up into this wall of sound. People use that term a lot in music, it started with the Beatles, it started with Pink Floyd and Phil Spector…I think Phil Spector, don’t quote me on that. But, I don’t like in between in music half the time, I want it to be off, like a light switch. The cool part about ‘Love in a Bar’ is that it’s like a light switch… it goes from off to on. It goes from soft to really loud, really quickly. And I love that about it. It’s almost like the music speaks into the lyric. You say how you feel and then it’s met with the reaction that you want. What better feeling is there in the entire world than having your feelings met, you’re putting yourself out there and having it returned, right?”
