Pistol Annies‘ very own Ashley Monroe enjoyed a cool birthday present on September 10th, as she and her fellow Annies, Miranda Lambert and Angaleena Presley, picked up a pair of CMA Awards nominations as the featured guests on Miranda-hubby — and reigning CMA Male Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year — Blake Shelton‘s song “Boys ‘Round Here.” And although the Annies had previously spent a lot of time on tour with Miranda, Ashley’s work surrounding her album, Like a Rose, together with Angaleena’s commitments, have meant that they haven’t been together as much as they used to, and Miranda says she misses her Annies! - The Annies are up for CMA Musical Event of the Year, as well as Music Video of the Year, for their work on Blake Shelton’s “Boys ‘Round Here.”

Miranda: “You know, I’ve been out there on the road without them, and I’m seein’ Dierks and all his buddies, and they all ride one bus, and I’m lonely.”

Miranda: “I find myself wandering around, ‘Anyone want to hang out? What are y’all doin’?'”

Ashley: “She misses our suitcases…”
Miranda: “I do!”
Ashley: “…exploded all over the bus.” (laughs)
Angaleena: “Yeah. And plus, I mean, I think all three of us would agree that as much value as we place on Pistol Annies, I place that much value on her solo career and her solo career. It’s like we want to lift each other up in every area, so it’s like we want Miranda Lambert to go be Miranda Lambert because she is bad ass and she is, you know, changin’ country music history, and I want Ashley to be Ashley. You know, it’s like we want both…”
Ashley: “Yeah.”
Angaleena: “…the best of both worlds, so…”
Ashley: “I think we can have it, too. I think…I don’t see us ever stopping…”
(laughter)
Ashley: “…to be honest.”
