PISTOL ANNIES: Baby, They’re Comin’ for You…

One of the hippest projects to hit the scene these days has to be the upcoming debut album from Pistol Annies, the trio featuring Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe, and Angaleena Presley. “Hell on Heels” is the title track, and the song and video are available digitally now, with the full album releasing digitally everywhere on August 23rd and the physical CD available at PistolAnnies.com. Ashley, Angaleena, and Miranda are all great friends, and the trio recently talked about some of the cool things about pooling their talents to become Pistol Annies. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

PISTOL ANNIES: Baby, They’re Comin’ for You…  Miranda Lambert talks about the distinction between her music and that of Pistol Annies. (:26)
“I’ve sort of found my niche as the rocker chick, and I have really country songs on all my albums, but this is sort of a side of me of the music that I listen to, like, you know, Gillian Welch and Allison Moorer and people that I love that I can’t really create that on my own because it’s not really my image or my style, but with this band, it sort of brings out that more country, bluegrass side that I’ve always had. I just didn’t know I had it in there ’til we started writin’ and puttin’ it on a record.”

PISTOL ANNIES: Baby, They’re Comin’ for You…  Angaleena Presley says that she loves songwriting with her fellow Pistol Annies: Ashley Monroe and Miranda Lambert. (:20)
“I think that’s what’s cool about the collaboration is because it’s like I’ll get an idea, and then I have two people to draw from their experiences, so each of our songs is like, from the point of view of three real country girls. So, it just works.”

PISTOL ANNIES: Baby, They’re Comin’ for You…  Ashley Monroe says that it’s the blend of the trio’s individual styles that creates something distinct in Pistol Annies. (:09)
“We all three have, you know, our own style of writing and our own experiences, but somehow or another, they all, when they blend together, it really does create Pistol Annies music.”
