OLD DOMINION: Writing On The Road

audio

Before their album Meat and Candy produced 3 huge hits, the guys in Old Dominion were successful songwriters who wrote hits for Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Tyler Farr and Dierks Bentley. Now that they have their own music career that has them out on the road touring with Miranda Lambert, it’s a little bit of a change in habits for the band when it comes to writing songs. Old Dominion lead singer Matthew Ramsey says that while the routine of writing can be different now, one thing is the same–he still has a bunch of great co-writers around him to continue writing hit songs like “Song For Another Time.” Speaking of being out on the road with Miranda Lambert, if you want see where Old Dominion is heading on the Highway Vagabond tour, check out Old Dominion Band dot com, or just click right HERE

audio  Matthew from Old Dominion talks about the difference of writing songs at home versus being on the road. (:36)
“It’s quite an adjustment from the time that we spent in Nashville before this was working. It was every day, writing . . . writing . . . writing . . . writing . . . writing . . . and now there is a lot of travel. There is a lot of extra things that we have to do. It definitely eats into our songwriting time. We are very lucky that we all write well together, so should the mood strike and we have time, we have co-writers right there that we can write with. It is a little bit harder to make it happen but it doesn’t seem to have hurt us too much. We still know how to do it and when we do have the time, I think we’re still pretty good at it.”
