OLD DOMINION: The Hottest Song in the Land!

audio

Congratulations to Old Dominion on the success of their debut single, “Break up with Him,” which tops the Billboard Country Airplay chart for a second week and hits number one on the Country Aircheck chart this week! It’s the first single from the band’s new album, Meat and Candy, and it’s also the first song that the band wrote together. And though the band members have written number-one hits for other artists, Old Dominion’s Trevor Rosen and Matthew Ramsey say it’s a very different feeling when you’re the act at the top of the charts. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • Accomplished songwriters as well as musicians, the five members of Old Dominion — Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Brad Tursi, Geoff Sprung, and Whit Sellers — have collectively scored five number-one hits at country radio, with songs recorded by Dierks Bentley, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Tyler Farr, and The Band Perry.
  • Featuring “Break up with Him,” and produced by GRAMMY® winner Shane McAnally, Old Dominion’s Meat and Candy album is available NOW! Look for it everywhere, including Apple Music.

audio  Old Dominion’s Trevor Rosen and Matthew Ramsey say that having a number-one single as a band is a different feeling than having a number-one hit as a songwriter. (:38)
Trevor: “You wouldn’t think it’d be so different, but it’s completely different. It blows my mind every time I hear somebody say it, or I look at a chart and you just see ‘Old Dominion’ there. It’s really hard to wrap my head around.”
Matthew: “Yeah, it’s like, like he said, seein’ it on the chart, like, and seein’ all the names that you’re so used to seeing on the chart, and then you’re on top of them is really (laughs)…”
Trevor: (laughs)
Matthew: “…I mean, it’s mind-blowing. It’s hard to…you know, ’cause we’re out there doin’ our thing no different than we normally do, so in some ways, it feels exactly the same, and then it just takes, like, seeing somethin’ like that to just be like, ‘Oh, my gosh, it’s really at the top. It’s at number one.’ It’s crazy.”
