The guys in Old Dominion might have a unique sound to their songs, but it’s not something they intentionally set out to do. The band has many influences from all different kinds of genres, but their goal is to make music that excites them. Matthew from Old Dominion believes that “as long as we keep following what excites us, and what moves us when we’re writing then that’s going to translate to our show, our fans.” That formula is working so far! After having the first two singles from their album Meat and Candy become major hits, the third single “Song For Another Time” is following the same pathway, and becoming another fan favorite!

“We just think about trying to write the best song we can, and what’s going to excite us, and now that we actually have an audience, what’s going to excite them. I don’t really think we try to think about where we fit, hopefully we fit in a lot of different places. It’s country, and it’s pop and it’s rock, and I think there’s room for all of that, so as long as we keep following what excites us, and what moves us when we’re writing then that’s going to translate to our show, our fans and that’s the only way that we’ve really gotten any success in the first place. So, if we are creating some sort of new sound for the genre, it’s just by following what we like, and what we think sounds cool, and what we want to listen to, so hopefully we can just keep doing that and not get in our heads and think about where we belong.”
