Trevor Rosen: “Doing the TV show, Songland, was actually really cool. It was special because we got to do it with our good friend and producer, Shane McAnally.  You know, we’ve never really been pitched songs before.  We’ve always written every song we put out. So, it was really cool to see these up and coming songwriters play some great songs for us. And, you know, see them get an opportunity too.  We remember what it was like to be songwriters just trying to get any opportunity we could so it was cool to be a part of that for them too.”

Matthew Ramsey: “It was super tough though to choose songs, they were all so good.  I remember the first song, I was like ‘Man, this is going to be hard because a lot of times you get pitched songs, quite honestly, they’re pretty bad. But, you know at this level, to be presented with such great songs just every time- it was pretty amazing.”
OD-Songland-History with Shane McAnally
Matthew Ramsey: “Definitely have a lot of history with Shane McAnally.  I think, you know, that’s probably how we got on that show  (laughs) is because our relationship with Shane.  And, he has produced all of our albums and even before that he was our friend and a songwriting partner. So, we just have so much history with him and it was really fun to kind of watch him also- that was part of the fun of being on that show was watching him in his element just doing his Shane-thing- just be himself with cameras on him.”

Trevor Rosen: “It’s about time.  That was cool too.  It was like we’re sitting here doing this big NBC TV show and it was just to look around and go ‘Here we are getting songs pitched to us on a TV show and here’s our buddy that we started from nothing as a big host’ so it was cool.”

NASHVILLE, TN — Last night, Nashville hitmakers Old Dominion were the guest recording artists on NBC’s hit series “Songland,” as they looked for a song to be featured in a new Jeep® brand commercial. The band, along with Jeep/FCA CMO Olivier François, chose “Songland” contestant Katelyn Tarver’s“Young” to be released and featured in the 90-second Jeep® brand commercial, in which Tarver appears as a character.

“Songland” provides talented up-and-coming songwriters with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to collaborate with visionary music producers who are responsible for today’s biggest hits.

“Songwriting is what this band is built on,” said Matthew Ramsey, frontman of Old Dominion. “Our love for writing songs and for the people who write them is what got us where we are today. We jumped at the chance to be a part of ‘Songland’ because it meant that the public would get a glimpse of what we have known for years: Without songwriters there would be no music.”

“Young” is ranked No. 3 today on the Apple Country Music chart and is now available to stream/download HERE.
