Old Dominion is just about ready to release their sophomore album Happy Endings on August 25th, but 12 new songs isn’t going to stop them from giving fans other music at their shows including hits written for other artists. The members of Old Dominion are full of songwriting talent and they want to showcase that skill to their fans as well. The band has some well-known hits other than their own, including Kenny Chesney’s “Save it for a Rainy Day,” Dierks Bentley’s “Say You Do,” Tyler Farr’s “A Guy Walks Into A Bar.” Lead singer, Matthew Ramsey explains how the set list of future shows will change with new material, “I think it’s definitely going to affect it obviously but we’re still gonna play the songs that we wrote for other people… [certain songs from Meat and Candy] will start to fall off as the more popular songs off the new album start to show up.” Old Dominion has since released three instant grat tracks including, “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart,” “Written in the Sand,” and more recently, “Shoe Shopping.” To find out when the guys will be coming to a city near you to sing these new songs, head over to Old Dominion Band Dot Com or click HERE.
Matthew from Old Dominion talks about the impact of their new album, Happy Endings, on their concert set list. (:38)
“It’s definitely going to affect it obviously but we’re still gonna play the songs that we wrote for other people. I think the ones that will end up kinda falling off are the deep cuts on the albums that… we already have a few songs that are on Meat and Candy that, you know the bigger we get, the more you realize that less and less people know a song like ‘Til It’s Over.’ And it’s like we’ve played that for a long time but not as many people know that. And of course more people know ‘Save It For A Rainy Day’ than they would a song that’s just a cut on our album. So those will start to fall off as the more popular songs off the new album start to show up. And then we still want to showcase our songwriting skills too.”
