OLD DOMINION: Just Buddies Playing Music

audio

Even before the 51st Academy Of Country Music Awards, kicked off in Las Vegas on Sunday, Old Dominion knew they were winners. The guys had previously been announced as this year’s ACM New Vocal Group–which as Old Dominion’s lead singer Matthew says, keeps the guys “grinning from ear to ear…because we’re just five buddies getting to make music together.” And early in the ACM Awards show they did make music! Old Dominion came out and played their current top-10 single “Snapback.”

“When we first found out that we actually won an ACM award, there’s that initial shock and excitement that happens right when you find out, but then after that the full weight of what that means for the future of our band kind of settles in, and we just can’t help but keep looking each and grinning ear to ear to each other because we’re just five buddies getting to make music together, and good things keep happening for us like this and we can hardly believe it”

“Performing on the ACM Awards show is a huge deal for us obviously. We’ve been a band for so long now…10 years or so, but we’re still new to a lot of people. We won the the ACM New Group, so there’s a lot of people who don’t know who we are, and this is a huge stage for us to be on to spread our musical little bit wider and to a bigger audience.”
