OLD DOMINION: Feasting on “Meat and Candy”

They’ve got the hottest country song in the nation with their chart-topping smash, “Break up with Him,” and as of last Friday, Old Dominion has unleashed even more amazing music with the release of their album, Meat and Candy. With each of the 11 songs co-written by at least one member of the band, the album was in every way a labor of love, as the guys shared some of their feelings and hopes for their first full-length album. “We actually got a couple advance copies, and I don’t know, just somethin’ about holdin’ it in your hand — it has that kind of old-school feel to it, the whole cover and everything. It’s like, man, I don’t know — it totally made me feel like a teenager, like, ‘Whoa, look at this thing! I got it!’ And I wanted to like, read all the stuff that I knew was in there, but I still wanted to read it.”

“We’ve been doin’ this a long time, and we’ve worked hard, and we’ve written hundreds and hundreds of songs, and these are the songs that, you know, I guess we loved the most and sounded like us the most. So, you know, when they hit ‘play,’ they’re gonna hear exactly who we are.”
