- Gi-normous congratulations to the incomparable Miranda Lambert, who not only hit number-one this week with her latest chartbuster, “Heart Like Mine,” but also became Mrs. Blake Shelton at a Saturday ceremony at the Don Strange Ranch outside San Antonio, Texas. - And congratulations go out as well to Carrie Underwood, who has earned RIAA Platinum Digital Single certification for her smash, “Last Name,” one of the blockbuster singles from her Carnival Ride collection.
- A “way-to-go” shout-out to good guy Kenny Chesney, his management company Morris Management, and his reps at AEG/TMG who recently announced that Kenny’s “Goin’ Coastal” Tour date next Wednesday, May 25th, in Tuscaloosa, AL, will not only go on as scheduled, but that fees for Kenny and his band — as well as those of his management and booking representatives — will be donated for tornado relief. Proceeds will go to GiveTuscaloosa.com, serving as a clearinghouse for local charities and services working to help the community following the April 27th tornado that took such a toll on the city. In the aftermath of the storm, Kenny had considered postponing the date, but was convinced by Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox that continuing with the scheduled show would be the best thing for the community, emotionally and financially. The mayor said in part, “As we respond to one of the worst natural disasters in our state’s history, we refuse to let April 27th define our future and hosting Kenny Chesney is another step forward to a new tomorrow. On behalf of the City of Tuscaloosa, I want to thank Kenny and his team for their generosity and compassion. It is the kindness of others that will carry us through as we rebuild Tuscaloosa.”
- Jake Owen took a trip oceanside to Santa Monica, CA, for a special performance of his new hit, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” as part of Yahoo’s RAM Country “Music with a View” series.
