  • Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams Paisley are teaming with the Sesame Street Muppets to star in the one-hour primetime TV special, Growing Hope Against Hunger, set to premiere on PBS on October 9th, at 7pm, ET (check local listings). Sponsored by Walmart, the special focuses on the growing issue of hunger in the United States, told from the perspective of families’ personal stories and strategies that have helped those families. The program will also introduce a new Muppet named Lily, whose family struggles with hunger. In a statement, Brad and Kim shared, “Food insecurity is a growing and difficult issue for adults to discuss, much less children. We are honored that Sesame Street, with its long history of tackling difficult issues with sensitivity, caring and warmth asked us to be a part of this important project. We hope that it will not only provide families with the tools they need to help them cope and live the healthiest life possible, but will educate the general population about the extent of food insecurity and hunger in the United States.” According to the press release, the USDA estimates that nearly one in four children have limited or uncertain access to affordable and nutritious food.
