MORE GOOD STUFF…with Brad, Miranda, Pistol Annies, and Love and Theft!

  • Today, Brad Paisley was among the newest artists announced as ACM Awards show performers! Brad has already earned his place in ACM history, with a record-setting five consecutive wins as Male Vocalist, and Brad’s up for the award again this year, as well as Entertainer of the Year and a pair of nominations in the Vocal Event category, where he’s nominated for “Old Alabama” featuring Alabama, and his Carrie Underwood duet, “Remind Me.” Catch the big show at 8pm, ET, this Sunday, on CBS.
  • On another Brad Paisley note, it was just announced that good-guy Brad has established the Brad Paisley Endowed Scholarship at his alma mater, Nashville’s Belmont University. The scholarship will provide financial assistance to a deserving student with demonstrated need who is studying at Belmont’s Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. While attending Belmont, Brad was the beneficiary of a scholarship supported by Vince Gill, and he’s happy to be “paying it forward.” Brad remarked, “I’ve often said that the best course of education for a young person wanting to pursue country music is to go to college at Belmont. I speak from experience. I wouldn’t be in any position to offer a scholarship if I had not gone to Belmont — this is the least I can do in appreciation.”
  • The new film The Hunger Games debuted to blockbuster opening-weekend numbers, and the soundtrack has proved to be a hot ticket, as well, debuting this week at number-one on Billboard‘s Top 200 sales chart, with first-week sales of 175,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Among the album’s 16 tracks is the song “Run Daddy Run,” written and performed by Miranda Lambert featuring Pistol Annies. Turns out that Miranda and fellow Annies Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe were so passionate about the book, they knew they wanted to be a part of the soundtrack, and they wrote the song unsolicited and chased after the chance to be a part of it! You can check out the story and interview video from the red carpet film premiere online here in a story on HollywoodReporter.com.
  • ACM-nominated Vocal Duo of the Year Love and Theft announced earlier this week that their new, self-titled album will be released on June 5th! Featuring their single, “Angel Eyes,” you can pre-order the album right now, right here, on Amazon.com.
