MIRANDA LAMBERT: The #1 Album in the Land!

audio

Miranda Lambert is sending out a big thank-you to all the fans who came out in force for the release of her new album, Platinum, which debuted today as the number-one album in the nation! With the album counters at Nielsen SoundScan tallying a whopping 180,000 albums sold, Miranda not only tops the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, but also becomes the only artist in the 50-year history of Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart to see each of her first five albums debut at number one! Platinum’s been getting great reviews, as well, and Miranda says that the album is very much a reflection of where she is — and where she’s headed. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • In a press release today, Miranda thanked all the fans who helped make Platinum’s first week such a success, as she said, “THANK YOU to the music lovers who believe in albums and spent your hard-earned money on 16 songs! 16 songs that all say something important to me. I hope that they also speak to you, and I hope you enjoy listening to Platinum. Thank you to the incredible musicians, songwriters, producers and artists that put this record together. I’m the luckiest girl in the world, blessed with the best fans!”
  • The album has also been getting incredible press, including a four-star review from Rolling Stone, which said that Miranda sings “top-shelf songs in the voice of a woman getting real. Listening to her records is like eavesdropping in a hair salon,” while the Associated Press is saying, “Yes, Lambert continues to grow. But at her core, she continues to celebrate the colorful drama of working-class lives…. The way she reflects modern women, complete with risqué word play and edgy humor, is what makes Lambert a fully three-dimensional country star.” Wow!
  • Among Platinum’s 16 songs is Miranda’s seventh number-one single, this week’s Mediabase chart-topper, “Automatic,” which has now been certified Gold. Remarking on the song hitting number one, Miranda said, “Thanks to Country Radio for being so good to me over the years and helping me get to number one this past week with ‘Automatic.’ This song is dear to my heart as it reminds me who I am and where I come from. It was written with two amazingly talented girlfriends who deserve all the great things that come their way.” Miranda wrote “Automatic” with tunesmiths Nicolle Galyon and Natalie Hemby.
  • Maximum Cool: With one of the songs on Platinum titled “Priscilla,” in a nod to Priscilla Presley, Miranda received a tweet with an Instagram photo this week from @Cilla_Presley that said: @LisaPresley and I are listening to your song “Priscilla.” Love it! Best of luck with your new album. x Priscilla
    – A thrilled Miranda tweeted in response, “Thank you so much! Wow!” as she shared in a subsequent tweet: “I never thought I would actually hear from the Queen herself!”

“I’m kind of moving through life and embracing the good and the bad, and I think that all of that is reflected on this album and in the lyrics and the vulnerability of these lyrics and also in the fun part of it and the sarcasm and a song like ‘Platinum’ and a song like ‘Two Rings Shy.’ There’s still this attitude, but it’s also not so chip-on-my-shoulder. It’s just kind of livin’ in the moment of bein’ 30 and where I am and what I’ve been through and where I’m going.”
