MIRANDA LAMBERT: No Watering Necessary

Last year, Miranda Lambert won the ACM Album of the Year award for her second record, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, so it only seemed fitting that this year’s ACM show featured Miranda making the TV debut of her new song, “Dead Flowers” — the first single from her upcoming third album. Miranda was thrilled to perform it on the show, and she says it was a little nerve-wracking because she had only sung it live with her band a few times before taking it on national television. With the popularity of YouTube and the prevalence of cell phones with video and such, Miranda says it’s gotten harder to keep a lid on new songs as much as in the past, when artists had more of a chance to try new songs on tour and get them road-tested, finessed, and ready for prime time before they had a chance to reach a much bigger audience. MIRANDA LAMBERT: No Watering Necessary  Miranda Lambert talks about debuting her new single, “Dead Flowers.” (:27)
“It was so great, yeah, I got to use the ACMs to really help get a great start on the single. I got to debut it live. We were really nervous. We’ve only played that song, like, eight times as a band, really, ’cause we’ve only had a couple days to rehearse it, so…you know, it’s hard to play…it’s hard to try out new music on audiences these days. It’s kind of sad because of cell phones and videos and all that stuff, if you want to keep somethin’ private, you can’t really, you know, test things out, but we got to do it on the ACMs, so that was good.”
