MIRANDA LAMBERT: Finding Inspiration in Compost

Miranda Lambert‘s amazing new single is called “Dead Flowers,” and it’s a song that Miranda was inspired to write after her own experience with some slightly wilted stems. She was just about to leave home for a trip and had tossed some aging flowers into her yard, and she recalls, “I looked over, and there was just all these pretty flowers layin’ in the yard, and I just thought, ‘Wow, that’s really sad.'” It was something about that sight, and the Christmas lights still on her house at the time, and Miranda says, “The song kind of just came to me.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • The digital single for “Dead Flowers” is available now at your favorite online music store! It’s the first track from Miranda’s new album, coming later this year!

MIRANDA LAMBERT: Finding Inspiration in Compost  Miranda Lambert explains how she came to write her new single, “Dead Flowers.” (:36)
“‘Dead Flowers’…I had some flowers I had gotten for Valentine’s Day, and I had to leave town, so they weren’t really dead, they were kinda wilty, but they were still kinda pretty. But I had to throw ’em in the yard, and I just was leavin’ the house, put my suitcase in the car, and I looked over, and there was just all these pretty flowers layin’ in the yard, and I just thought, ‘Wow, that’s really sad.’ And it was still…I still had my Christmas lights up, too, from Christmas, and the song kind of just came to me. I was at home by myself, and I sat down, and about thirty minutes later, I had the song, and here it is…the first single.”
