audio  Miranda Lambert talks about the fans and fan-voted honors like the upcoming CMT Music Awards. (:54)
“If fans don’t buy the music and don’t buy into who you are, then we don’t have a career. There’s no reason to keep going. Change directions immediately (laughs) ’cause it’s not working anymore. So, when anything is fan voted or fans come up to you and say, ‘This song helped me through…’ whatever, that’s when you know you’re still doin’ somethin’ right. And so, hearin’, like, the CMT Awards, bein’ a top nominee, it’s just like, ‘Okay, I still got it!’ (laughs) You know, I feel like. I hadn’t had a record out in a while, and just knowin’ that Four the Record carried me through three years, and the fans are still votin’ me through on videos from that record and still appreciating what I’m doin’, it means a lot. You know? And that they’re still relating to me with the videos that we’re doin’, and you know, I still am in touch with them and what they want from me. And that’s the most important thing of all. None of this matters if the fans don’t want to hear it anymore.”
