“‘Only Prettier’ is, to me, it’s an anthem. It’s my own anthem, and I want girls to have their fists in the air singin’ ‘Only Prettier’ with me.”

“Natalie Hemby and I wrote this song together, and she had this…at first, she said, ‘I have this idea I want to play for you,’ and she said, ‘I’ve been saved by the grace of Southern charm, I got a mouth like a sailor, and yours is more like a Hallmark card,’ and right there, she had me. I was like, just the fact that, you know, she had the guts to say what we all wanted to say to those mean, skinny girls in high school.” (laughs)
