MIRANDA LAMBERT: #1 #7!

audio

Congratulations to Miranda Lambert, who hit number-one this week, earning the seventh chart-topper of her career with her smash single, “Automatic.” And fittingly enough, with Father’s Day coming up this weekend, Miranda said awhile back that the song’s lyrics were inspired in part by memories of time spent with her dad. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • You’ll find “Automatic” on Miranda’s new album, Platinum, which also features her Carrie Underwood duet, “Somethin’ Bad.” Look for the album everywhere you find great music, including here, on iTunes.
  • If you missed Miranda singing “Automatic” last week on ABC’s The View, you can see her performance online here!

audio  Miranda Lambert talks about her latest number-one hit, “Automatic.” (:40)
“‘Automatic’ is a song about the good life. It’s about slowing down and remembering to take a breath, and what it’s like to be a little bit more simple, and not really about changing and going back there, but just reminiscing about what it was like to live in the days where there was a laundry line, and there was, you know, my dad teaching me how to drive my ’55 Chevy that I still have and don’t drive near enough. And you know, just every time I listen to it, even in the writing process, it just really brought back good memories, and when I hear it, it reminds me to take a deep breath and think about those good memories and try to instill them in my hectic life right now.”
