Man, I have to have one of the most memorable gold record presentations ever. My whole label and management company and whole team decided to surprise me on stage at a show in Nashville. I had no idea what was going on, as a matter of fact I almost played the wrong song. My band was in on the presentation and luckily steered me back on track, cause I almost played the wrong song. I got to take a picture with a bunch of fans behind me with a bunch of people that I really care about that believed in me, so sharing that gold record with everybody was really, really something special.
Getting the kind of recognition that a gold record sort of means is pretty humbling. I know that one thing I’ve noticed is there’s not near enough names on gold records cause it takes such a huge team to have any kind of success, let alone a gold record. My name may be on it, but it sure represents a lot of people who put in a lot of effort and worked very hard to help achieve this goal, so I’m proud to share it with them.

After playing college basketball for Drury University for four years, breakthrough country artist Matt Stell stood at a crossroads.
