MAREN MORRIS & RYAN HURD: ON HAYES’ UPCOMING FIRST BIRTHDAY (AUDIO)

RH: It’s odd because we don’t have much to compare it to like we – I wasn’t around a lot of kids until now and my brothers – our nieces are four months older than his so that’s – she’s really the only kid we can compare it to because that’s the only kid that he sees cuz we’ve been locked down. But man he’s a great kid. I mean – from what people tell us he’s pretty easy and –

MM: Yeah. Other people will tell us “you got a really chill baby”.

RH: He’s just happy.

MM: He’s very happy, very smilely. He has his two front teeth in now and they’re so gapped. It’s adorable. And he loves to sing and scream. Like he’s not very – he’s not a really whiney baby. He’s just like loves – he’s very vocal though. He loves to sing. He loves to like babble.

RH: He loves the piano. He loves like when I sit at the – I let him sit at the piano with me and he just bangs on the keys. That’s his probably favorite thing.

MM: Yeah. It sounds like he’s gonna be musical.

RH: He’s very – he’s not a good piano player yet. I’ll just – You’re gonna have to

MM: He has his own style.

RH: Yeah, you have to have some patience.

MM: He’s not Mozart.

RH: Not yet. But you never know. Yeah he’s awesome though. We’re gonna I think have like just our parents and my brother or our siblings over. Obviously, we’re still nervous about – I mean we – the thing with us is we can’t really take many chances because if we get covid that means that we can’t go to something really important that we have on the calendar so

MM: We’re being very safe.

RH: So we’re trying our best to make sure that that doesn’t happen. So yeah everything we do is real small.

MM: We’ll have a small birthday party for him.

RH: Yeah. We’ve been covid tested so much at this point. I can’t imagine that it would be – like our noses are functional – viable for that anymore. But yeah, we’re really excited to just – it’s weird. It’s odd. You count months right, until now and now you can start saying years so I don’t know. It does fly by though, you’re right.
