MAREN MORRIS REFLECTS ON THE RELEASE OF NEW ALBUM “HUMBLE QUEST” (AUDIO & VIDEO)

MAREN MORRIS’ THIRD STUDIO ALBUM “HUMBLE QUEST” IS OUT NOW
“Humble Quest means to me. I mean, it’s all my albums are yearbooks in a way. It’s like looking back at like, oh my god, I really thought I had it figured out back then. And then you’re like, no, you didn’t. But with Humble Quest, I feel like it’s the first time I’m really admitting, I don’t know what is going on. And I’m searching for it. We’re always going to be on this ongoing journey of, you know, fail or fly. And I think that with this album, lyrically, sonically, it’s just really warming. I mean, I know I have to talk about it, because I’m promoting it, but it’s hard because I wrote it. So I only know my own perspective. But I feel like my perspective of the songs as the writer is that it pulled me out of something. Whether it was COVID, or postpartum, or feeling like I was at a crossroads with my career, or feeling like I opened my mouth when too many times and pissed the wrong person off. This was the album that was like, screw it. Like I am able to admit when I’m wrong, I’m also able to admit when I wasn’t wrong. And I’m going to be finding those two things for the rest of my life. And I think just knowing that you’re aware of it is humbling.”
“Yeah, so if you followed me or my husband’s career, you would know that, like, we met writing songs almost 10 years ago, and we’ve written so many since then. And with this album, I feel like because we were stuck in quarantine together, and we’re two songwriters. Like there was really nothing else to do but write and have conversations that lead to songs later. So I feel like everyone, whether it was their roommate or their spouse or their partner, whatever, like it felt like 10 years into one. So everyone was super compressed. Literally, figuratively. This was the time to like, you know, you saw a lot of relationships end, a lot begin, a lot get stronger. And I feel like we were the one that got stronger and we had to go through the, you know, the valley to get there.”
