MAREN MORRIS: Parton, Harris, Springsteen, Oh My

audio

Maren Morris is going from having musical heroes, to being a musical hero. The rising star released her album HERO earlier this summer, and is already making her mark with the first 2 hit singles off the project…her top 10 song “My Church,” and the follow-up single “80s Mercedes,” which is climbing the charts right now. Maren is also raising her profile by being the most nominated female for the 2016 CMA Awards. While she may one day influence a generation of hit-makers, Maren shared some of her musical heroes included Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, and Bruce Springsteen.

We’ll have to wait until November 2nd to see if Maren walks home with any of the awards she’s nominated for…like, Female Vocalist Of The Year, Album Of The Year (HERO), Single Of The Year (“My Church”), Song Of The Year (“My Church”), and New Artist. The CMA Awards will be celebrating their 50th year, when the show airs on ABC on Wednesday, November 2nd, live from Nashville, Tennessee.

audio  Maren Morris talks about her musical heroes. (:50)
“I’ve so many musical heroes because I grew up listening to everything, but if I did some sort of like, I don’t know, nostalgic thing I would definitely turn on some old Dolly Parton. I’ve just always been such a huge fan of hers as a song writer and as an artists. She’s just sort of the jack of all trades, but I love her. I love how sassy she is, and her lyrics are just so honest. I love Emmylou Harris. I’ve just always been such a huge fan of every album she does, and she just really, her music does not age. I feel like she gets cooler with age if that’s even possible, I love Springsteen I feel like those are, I’m all over the place so everything from Springsteen to Dolly is where you can find me.”
