Maren Morris:
I think “The Bones” was in top 20 and I asked my radio team at Columbia to see when the last time a woman had a more than one week number one. And, we had to do some digging because it has not been recently. And, that was with it being a long shot that it could happen to me with this song. But, because “The Bones” was gaining so much momentum and was moving a lot quicker than any of my previous singles and it was sort of hopping over some of these very well-seasoned dudes that have lots of radio success. I was like maybe we should just see when the last time a woman had a multi-week and see if someday we could have that ourselves. So, it just feels so great that it was this song, this single. It’s a love song that’s very much about strength and vulnerability and knowing that your relationship is perfect in its imperfection and knowing that you can work on things and be in the trenches with someone and building a history with someone is more important than this butterfly feeling. So, I think that that kind of love song is- hopefully will stand the test of time. Yeah, breaking that record meant a lot, not just for me, but my co-writers, my friends, people that have moved to Nashville to make this dream happen for themselves, seeing progress like that being made is hopeful for them to do it some day too and it not be another eight year streak that needs to be broken. I hope that in a couple of weeks we have more girls having those bell-ringing, number one moments.
