MAREN MORRIS: Hitting So Close To Home

Maren Morris was on the stage in Las Vegas for the Route 91 Harvest Festival 24 hours before tragedy struck fans who were there just to enjoy country music. While she was back in Nashville when the news of what happened broke, Maren, like everyone else, is left trying to balance what her job is at a concert vs facing the very realistic threats of modern day life.

“I honestly… I think I go into tunnel vision when I’m on stage and I don’t think about any outside factors, I probably should, but I don’t. I get up there and I lock into what I’m doing in the song and connecting with the fans, and I just try not to let those fears affect my performance because what we’re doing up there is an escape for those fans and I just feel like… but I think from now on, this hitting so close to home, it certainly does feel like I need to be more cautious but it’s so sad to even think about that because that shouldn’t be what it’s about, it’s supposed to be fun.”
