Maren Morris on Grammy nomination with Ryan Hurd (Audio)
Well, I am always shocked because there’s such a big pool of great music, all genre at this award show. And I think my husband pointed out that this is like my 13th or 14th nomination and I just, you know, it just never gets old. And also the fact being nominated for a Grammy with Ryan, my husband, for Chasing After You that’s like our first time ever been nominated together. It’s also his first nomination, so to get to share that with him. You know, I remember getting my first Grammy nomination for My Church and winning and I just remember walking offstage and him telling me that you’re always going to have this, you’re always going to be a Grammy winner from this day on out. And for him, he’s always going to be a Grammy nominee from here on out for the rest of his career, whether he wins or not. So it’s just a really special thing to be recognized for.

Maren Morris – Better Than We Found It

Maren Morris on Grammy nomination for “Better Than We Found It” (Audio)
It was very out of left field to receive a Grammy nomination for Better Than We Found It. I did not release that as a single, as an official single, it was more of a kind of of the times song, protest song, if you will. But I don’t, I didn’t submit it for a Grammy nod, my label must have. But I am honored that the Recording Academy would consider that one of the best country songs of the past year because there were a lot. And it’s just such an important song to me as a songwriter and as a bystander of, you know, our crazy world we live in, especially the last year. So I feel like the Grammys in their best light, you know, should reflect the art of the times. And I didn’t think that mine would be one of them, but I’m very honored.
