LUKE COMBS TALK ABOUT THE CMA’S AND HIS UPCOMING PERFORMANCE TOMORROW NIGHT

What does it feel like to be nominated for a CMA Award?
Oh, yeah. It’s great. I mean, any time is is unbelievable. You know, I think it’s every time it’s really hard to believe, honestly. I didn’t ever think that I would get this far, so, I’m just really thankful for it is all. Being nominated again for entertainer of the year is incredible.

What can we expect from your CMA Performance tomorrow night?
I’m performing “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma”, which is a song I wrote for the twisters movie. I got a call. I don’t know, but, you know, obviously before the movie came out and, they wanted to do an original soundtrack, and, they wanted me to write something uptempo and fun and fast, and that’s what we did and it turned out to be, really great. You know, I didn’t know really what to expect. I don’t have too much experience doing stuff like that, but it was a lot of fun. The performance is really high energy, a lot of cool lights and fire and stuff we’ve never done. We’ve never done that stuff ever before. So, I think it makes it a little bit cooler for us to, you know, as people who don’t. Who. Yeah, me and my band, we really shy away from that stuff. We like to let the music speak for itself, but I think the song is the perfect time to to dip your toe into that. So we’re excited about. It’s gonna be a lot of fun.

What was your favorite experience with the song “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma”
My favorite experience is always writing songs. I think is, you know, that’s what I really love to do. That process of, you know, I came together with, Jesse Alexander and Jonathan Singleton, two people whom I’ve written with the time before. And so that was easy and natural. And I believe we wrote the song in an hour, an hour and a half, you know, it was a lot of fun. And, you know, the music video was really challenging. I’m not a big music video guy. I don’t really love doing those. I’m not definitely not, wouldn’t consider myself an actor by any stretch of the imagination, but it was a it was an interesting day. It was a long day. I got completely soaked from head to toe in my clothes, like, 3 or 4 different times. So, it was an interesting day, for sure, but that was. That was fun.

Can you talk to us about your recent show Concert for Carolina and how it felt to do that for North Carolina?
Oh my gosh. I mean, the Concert for Carolina was, you know, one of the things that I will be most proud of, I think, you know, in 20 or 30 years, when I look back on everything that I was able to accomplish, being able to give back to, you know, the place that has given me so much, and the people who made me who I am. Is something that means the world to me. You know, as soon as reports and images started coming out about about what was going on there, you know, I immediately reached out to my manager and to Eric Church, and I said, hey, we have to do something, and I want it to be huge, and I don’t know how we’re going to pull it off, but we got to figure it out. And so many incredible people came together. So many different teams work together in such a small amount of time to make that happen. I would be lying to you if I told you it was an easy thing to put together. It was an absolute logistical mess to get that done. But it was totally worth it. I would do it again every day if I could. Yeah, it was, it was an. It was a pretty amazing night.
