LUKE COMBS: Radio Lessons

audio

Luke Combs says that he’s been singing his whole life, and one of the first vocal lessons he got was…from the radio! Luke remembers the influence that the music of the late 90s had on him, when he was little would listen to the radio. All the hours he spent listening and singing along to his favorite artists on the FM dial, actually paved the way for his current singing techniques. Luke recalls “I grew up trying to sing that stuff when I would hear it on the radio. Little did I know, that I was practicing the whole time, I just enjoyed singing. A lot of that stuff shaped anywhere from my tone, to vocal control…anything.” So, who knows…that little kid singing along to Luke’s song “Hurricane” on the radio, could be a future star.

“I’ve been singing since I was 5. Since I could talk, pretty much. It’s just been such a fun experience to get to sing, cause I started…I did chorus, and I love listening to R&B and stuff when I was a kid, and all that late 90s stuff, was Boyz II Men, and I grew up trying to sing that stuff when I would hear it on the radio. Little did I know, that I was practicing the whole time, I just enjoyed singing. A lot of that stuff shaped anywhere from my tone, to vocal control…anything. I’ve learned from so many, so many great singers.”
