LUKE COMBS on upcoming tour dates and opening acts on tour
Well this fall we’ve got Jameson Rodgers and Morgan Wallen, and then next spring we’ve got Drew Parker and Ashley McBryde. So we just kicked off the tour this weekend. Morgan wasn’t on the first weekend of the tour, I think he had something else going on, not exactly sure. We had The Cadillac Three out this weekend, but Morgan will start this coming weekend. And I’m really excited, it feels like he’s at a really great place. He kind of feels like where I was maybe a year ago, like he’s on this really highly upward trajectory. And I think it’s something that my fans really enjoy, his sound, and they really enjoy him and his attitude and the image that he has. I think it’s going to be a really great mix, because I know the fans are going to be there and in their seats early because he’s hot and they want to hear what he’s got going on. And I think it’s a really good way to keep myself on my toes as well, cause I’m a super competitive guy, and I definitely want to go watch his show and go, “Well alright, I’ve got to do better than that,” cause I know he puts on a great show. I don’t ever want to be complacent, I would never be a guy that would put on two really boring acts before the show so my show looked better. You know what I mean? I want to be the best cause I am the best, that’s my mindset sometimes when I go into these things. You know, Michael Jordan wants the ball in his hands at the end of the game and taking the game-winning shot. That’s the way I feel about being onstage is I want people to go, “I want to do what that guy does.” That’s the competitive nature that I have, as far as the live performance aspect goes. And Jameson is just a great dude, absolutely incredible songwriter, even better human being. He was out with us this spring, and he’s just a joy to be around all the time. Such a positive dude, and such a good guy, and I’m just pumped for him and everything that he’s got going because I know he’s got the songs, and a lot of people don’t have the songs, and that’s the hardest thing to get.
