KIX BROOKS: The New Kid  Kix Brooks says that when it comes to his career as a solo artist with his new single, “New to This Town,” it feels more like “startin’ over in this town.” (1:07)
“Well, it’s kind of interesting. I mean, obviously I’ve been here a long time (laughs), so you know, I’m not new, but it is…it’s more like startin’ over in this town, you know? And there’s a lot of aspects of it that are, and I think folks are in a lot of ways real curious about what I’m up to and how this could be different than Brooks & Dunn, obviously. And it is different. And it’s kind of fun. Ronnie and I both, I think, ran under certain confines to try and make what we were callin’ Brooks & Dunn music. Whatever that was, it did have certain guidelines to it, a certain image to it, and, you know, we tried to stay true to that. So it’s kind of fun — I’m sure it is for him, too, but it definitely is for me to have that freedom of sort of turnin’ back the hands of time a little bit and goin’, ‘Okay, who was that guy again?’ (laughs) Yeah, it’s me! That’s right!'”
