Kix Brooks is poised to hit the airwaves with the terrific groove of his new single, “Bring It on Home,” but that’s just one of a dozen very cool songs on Kix’s upcoming solo album, titled New to This Town, out September 11th. And while Ronnie Dunn may have been the main voice that fans came to know from Brooks & Dunn, Kix was a solo artist and a hit songwriter before the duo wrote their page in country music history, and Kix approached his new solo album knowing that making great music is also about knowing what it means to be a great entertainer. “I made a album that really is close to my heart, and it’s a whole lot of fun. For the most part, the music’s just…it’s kind of fun and games and hangin’ it out there and thinkin’ about gettin’ back in a lot of those clubs and festivals and gettin’ to play again. And over the years, it’s funny how walkin’ on the stage you’ll have some ballad that really emotionally meant a lot to you, and right before you walk out, you scratch it off (laughs) the set list ’cause you know they’re not gonna dig it! It’s like, you know, people come to enjoy themselves, and I think this album in a lot of ways is about that.”
