KENNY CHESNEY: Trust Me!

Kenny Chesney fans got a special treat last year when Dave Matthews came out to Kenny’s show in Atlanta, but surprisingly enough, Kenny says Dave wasn’t too sure about making a guest appearance. “He wanted to get up and sing something with me, but he didn’t really know how he was gonna be received…I said, ‘Just trust me on this.'” Sure enough, Kenny smiles, “It was awesome.” And the whole evening really seemed like musical karma for what was to come on Kenny’s new album, Lucky Old Sun. The album not only includes “I’m Alive,” a song he recorded with Dave, but also the current hit, “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven,” that Kenny recorded with The Wailers. Interestingly enough, the song Kenny performed with Dave that night in Atlanta was “Three Little Birds,” a song made famous by Bob Marley & The Wailers(AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • Kenny’s Lucky Old Sun album will hit stores in a deluxe version, with bonus songs and video, on October 14th!
  • And don’t forget…we’re in week two of the iTunes “Countdown to Kenny Chesney’s Lucky Old Sun,” with the arrival this week of “Key’s in the Conch Shell,” the second of three tracks that will be available on iTunes leading up to the album release! The purchase of each of these songs will count toward the cost of the full album via iTunes’ “Complete My Album” feature.

KENNY CHESNEY: Trust Me!  Kenny Chesney recalls Dave Matthews being a little tentative about first joining him on stage. (:24)
“Last year, at our last show of the year, in Atlanta, Dave had a night off, and he came out to our show in Atlanta. And he wanted to get up and sing something with me, but he didn’t really know how he was gonna be received, really, because he just didn’t know for sure, you know? And I said, ‘Just trust me on this.’ Brought him out, and we did ‘Three Little Birds’ by Bob Marley & The Wailers…and it was awesome.”
