KENNY CHESNEY: The Details of a Moment…or at Least, What You Can Remember

There’s nothing like a song that paints a vivid picture that you can visualize as you listen — that’s always a hallmark of cool songwriting — and Kenny Chesney definitely had that in mind when he wrote his new hit, “Out Last Night,” with buddy and fellow big-time songwriter Brett James. With lyrics like “two karaoke girls drunk on a dare / singin’ ‘I Got You Babe’ by Sonny & Cher,” Kenny felt like the song would paint a picture of fun that his fans would really enjoy. “I love being able to write a song where you actually get into the details of a moment,” he tells us, but he can’t help but laugh when he says he thinks the song also speaks to how a lot of his fans feel the morning after one of his shows. “I love bein’ able to write a song where you actually get into the details of a moment. And this song definitely does that. And also I would like to think that this is how a lot of my fans are gonna feel the next mornin’ after they get up after comin’ to one of our shows, so (laughs) I think that this is gonna be a very real thing for everybody involved.”
