KENNY CHESNEY: Ready for Some Football!

Super Bowl weekend is almost here! And when it comes to football, Kenny Chesney‘s love for the game is well known, from his smash single “The Boys of Fall” to his Boys of Fall documentary on high school football, and producing the February 20th ESPN special The Color Orange: The Condredge Holloway Story, all about the UT quarterback who was one of Kenny’s sports idols. When Kenny was making the documentary for Boys of Fall, the interviews were something that he says were “one of the highlights of my life.” And from John Madden to Troy Aikman, Peyton Manning, Bill Parcells, and others, Kenny had the rare experience of talking football with some greats of the game who know, as coaches or players, what it means to win a Super Bowl. KENNY CHESNEY: Ready for Some Football!  Kenny Chesney talks about the football greats he interviewed for his Boys of Fall documentary. (:36)
“It was interesting, in shooting the Boys of Fall documentary. I mean, I did interview some of my friends that I’ve known a while, you know? We did talk to Peyton [Manning]; we did talk to, you know, Sean Payton, the head coach of the Saints. And Jon Gruden’s a friend of mine. Bobby Bowden I’ve known for a little while. We interviewed Mac Brown, at the University of Texas; we interviewed John Madden; we interviewed Steve Spurrier; we interviewed David Cutcliffe, I mean, we interviewed Troy Aikman; we interviewed Jim Tressel at Ohio State; we interviewed Bill Parcells.

KENNY CHESNEY: Ready for Some Football!  Kenny Chesney said that the Boys of Fall interviews were a highlight of his life. (:21)
“To be able to sit with them and ask them questions about the game of football and the parallels that it has with life and just about their love of the game and about what the journey has meant to them, it was one of the highlights of my life. It really has been. You know, especially ’cause I do love football and I’m very passionate about it.”

KENNY CHESNEY: Ready for Some Football!  Kenny Chesney loved the reactions when he played his song, “The Boys of Fall,” to the football greats he interviewed. (:29)
“I would play ’em the song before I interviewed ’em. And you could just tell that they would stare out the window and kind of go to that place in their mind of what that song meant to them, or what memory it brought back to them, you know, and it was really cool ’cause John Madden listened to that song, and he goes, ‘You know what? That takes me to high school football. That takes me to some friends of mine that I haven’t seen in years.’ You know? And that’s the response I wanted.”
