KENNY CHESNEY: No Sails…But There Will Be Hoisting

You don’t get to be Entertainer of the Year without a lot of hard work, so when it comes to his leisure time, Kenny Chesney likes to put the emphasis on “leisure,” which is one reason he says he’s not a sailboat kind of guy. Kenny admits, “I don’t like to work that much when I’m on a boat.” He laughs, “I like to spill drinks on my boat, and that’s about it.” For Kenny, it’s about relaxing, listening to some music, and having fun with friends…and for everyone who still tells him he should get a sailboat, Kenny’s ready with a thumbs-down, as he says with a smile, “I like a power boat. I like to get there quickly.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • Also moving quickly is Kenny’s new single on its way to the top of the charts! It’s “Down the Road,” Kenny’s song with Mac McAnally, and it’s the second big hit — following the smash, “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven” — from Kenny’s latest album, Lucky Old Sun.
  • Kenny has just been announced to perform on The 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards on February 8th! He’s up for his first GRAMMY this year in the category of Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for “Shiftwork” with George Strait. “Shiftwork” was one of four big hits, along with “Don’t Blink,” “Never Wanted Nothing More,” and “Better as a Memory,” all from Kenny’s smash album, Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates.
  • Be sure to check out kennychesney.com for info on his just-announced Sun City Carnival tour, launching April 17th! Kenny will be on the road with Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum, with Montgomery Gentry and Sugarland joining the fun on the stadium dates!

KENNY CHESNEY: No Sails…But There Will Be Hoisting  Kenny Chesney explains his philosophy of boating enjoyment. (:22)
“I don’t sail because that’s too hard of work. I don’t like to work that much when I’m on a boat. I like to spill drinks on my boat, and that’s about it. You know? (laughs) And listen to music and have friends on it, and you know, jump off in the ocean and listen to Bob Marley. That’s all I like to do on it, you know? People have asked me, I’ve had a lot of people say, ‘Man, you need to get a sailboat,’ and I said, ‘No, I don’t.’ I like a power boat. I like to get there quickly. (laughs)”
