KENNY CHESNEY: Good Tequila

Kenny Chesney‘s latest hit is “You and Tequila” with Grace Potter — and the song recently earned a trio of CMA Award nominations, with two for Kenny and Grace for Musical Event of the Year and Video of the Year, as well as a Song of the Year nomination for songwriters Matraca (m?-tray-s?) Berg and Deana Carter. The fact that the song has been so well received is a testament to everyone involved, and Kenny tells us that the vocal pairing with Grace just couldn’t have been a better fit. • “You and Tequila” is from Kenny’s Hemingway’s Whiskey album, which also features a trio of number-one hits with “The Boys of Fall,” “Live a Little,” and “Somewhere with You.”
  • Available this week… ESPN premiered its new, four-episode original series, RISE UP, this past Tuesday, featuring a theme song recorded and co-written by Kenny Chesney. This week also marked the release of the “Rise Up” theme as a digital single available online now, including right here, on iTunes. The new series, which continues on consecutive Tuesdays — September 20th, 27th, and October 4th — shares the inspiring story of four communities coming together to renovate their local high school athletic facilities, with the show spotlighting the renovations and the guidance and tools that students receive toward becoming better athletes. The show airs at 7pm, ET, on ESPN.

KENNY CHESNEY: Good Tequila  Kenny Chesney talks about Grace Potter, who sings with him on “You and Tequila.” (:23)
“She’s amazing. I mean, she’s really a great singer and great artist and a great songwriter. And to have her a part of ‘You and Tequila’ and to have her on this record, it was just perfect. And we’d never sang before. Never. I met her the day that she came in the studio to sing on the record, but it clicked, and our voices, they were perfect together.”
