Kameron Marlowe on releasing “Folsom Prison Blues” (AUDIO)

“So I love the song Folsom Prison Blues. Johnny Cash is just a hero of mine. And I’ve always wanted to be able to cover one of his songs and put it out. And luckily I got to do it with Folsom Prison. And it was really cool to reimagine such a quintessential song to country music. I really tried to emphasize the blues in the song. And I think I did that on accident because when I was way younger, I was trying to learn guitar and this is one of my first songs that I learned and I could not play it as fast as Johnny Cash could. So we decided to make it just full blues. So rather than trying to compete with Johnny Cash, which is impossible, I really just tried to make this song my own.”
