Jameson Rodgers: shares story on how “Some Girls” became first single (Video and Audio)
So I had already had the original four songs recorded for my second EP. We were all excited about it and in the meantime, ‘Some Girls’ —I had always loved the song, and so I asked Jake Mitchell, who was a writer on it (he had the track). And I was like, “Man, can I just throw a vocal down on this? And just see what it would sound like?” And he’s like, ‘Yeah, of course!’ And so, I went and put the vocal on it. And so we had this team meeting, you know, about the EP, and so I played it for them at the team meeting. I was like, ‘Man, what do y’all think about maybe recutting another one? Maybe this song?’ And so, played it for them. Everybody freaked out and sure enough, it’s the first single. Funny story, yeah.
