1. Cold Beer Calling My Name

Intro Audio: Cold Beer Calling My Name

Cut X Cut Audio: Cold Beer Calling My Name

The first track off my new EP “In It for the Money” is “Cold Beer Calling My Name.” I wrote it with my pals Hunter Phelps, Alyssa Vanderheym, Brett Tyler. We wrote this song actually what like 2017, I think. And it’s funny it took us like, you know, when we wrote it, we weren’t thinking that it was going to be a duet. So, it’s crazy having you know, my buddy Luke, jump on there with me and just really see it come to life since we wrote it. It was probably ’18- 2018 when I went in and cut the song and then asked you to do it. So, he was- It was right at the same time when he asked me to go on tour with him and so he was just starting his first arena tour. So, it was right before he was arena level. We had a lot of fun writing this one, pumped to see going up the radio. Hope y’all are doing it too.

2. Good Dogs

Intro Audio: Good Dogs

Cut X Cut Audio: Good Dogs

So one of the songs off my latest EP “In It for the Money” is a song called “Good Dogs” which I wrote with my boys Hunter Phelps, Brent Anderson and Jake Mitchell.  Same kind of deal with some of the other songs. This one was written at the at the cabin over east of Nashville on Center Hill lake and Hunter got a dog two or three years ago now. I mean, for me, this song you know definitely pulls on the heartstrings. I grew up with dogs. I don’t have a dog at the moment just because it would be kind of unfair for me to have a dog right now as much as I’m gone. But for me, it just takes me back to a time with you know, their family members, you know, I mean, you grew up with dogs or family members after you know so long with them. So it just kind of hurts when you have to- when you can’t spend as much time as you’d like with them. Yeah, hope y’all can hope y’all enjoy it. Hope you all can relate to it and hope you’ll dig it.

3. Some Girls

Intro Audio: Some Girls

Cut X Cut Audio: Some Girls

The EP wouldn’t even exist without “Some Girls.” And “Some Girls” is actually a song that is several years old. It was a song that ironically, I didn’t write. Most of you might have heard the story already, but my buddies Hardy, Jake Mitchell and CJ Solar wrote this song several years ago.  And at the time, you know, we kind of came up together in Nashville, we moved to town around the same time, and you know, when you’re, when you’re coming up through the trenches together, you kind of share demos with each other along the way and get feedback from your buddies on songs that you write. And that was back when none of us really had a lot going on at the time. And so, I fell in love with it, you know, all those years ago, and I always told him man, if nobody ever cuts a song, I would love to do it one day if I if I ever got a record deal. And so, fast forward a few years and somehow that song slipped through the cracks and I got to record it. And man, what a journey that song is, I mean, it’s spent you know, it’s probably the reason I got a record deal. It’s probably you know, one of the reasons that I got on the Luke Combs tour you know, and then it’s my very first number one song. It spent probably, not probably, it did spend almost a year and a half at Country radio and, and rang the bell, which is just crazy to see, It’s such a rare thing for new artists to have their debut single go number one, so I definitely wouldn’t be sitting here talking about this EP if it wasn’t for “Some Girls” so man, just thankful for that song.

4. In It for the Money

Intro Audio: In It for the Money

Cut X Cut Audio: In It for the Money

“In It for the Money” is the title track of my new EP wrote it with my boys, Hunter Phelps, Brian Anderson, and Jake Mitchell.  This is another one that came from the cabin. Over on Center Hill lake. There’s some magic in the air up there. I mean all four of us kind of came up in Nashville together me, Hunter, and Jake. I think this song just kind of paints the picture of how you know paying dues what it takes to you know why we do this. I feel like we would I feel like I’m speaking for me, I’m probably speaking for all of them. I would do it for just getting by salary. You know, if all I had to do was get up and play guitar and write a song, I’d probably do it forever. This EP obviously means a ton to me. I haven’t been releasing any new music for a while. So it’s, it’s good and getting to put some new songs out but “In It for the Money” I’m glad it was the title track. It’s one of my favorite songs on the EP and I think it’s because all of us can relate to it so much and yeah, hope y’all dig it.

5. Rolling Rock, Rolling Stones

Intro Audio: Rolling Rock, Rolling Stones

Cut X Cut Audio: Rolling Rock, Rolling Stones

“Rolling Rock, Rolling Stones” is a track of my latest EP “In It for the Money.” In this song, I feel like we were- me, Hunter and Smith writing another song. The line came out you know Rolling Rock, Rolling Stones for another song. And then we were like ‘Oh, that’d be a cool song’. And so we took it to Jake and I kind of just fell out. So you know, we kind of tip the hat to the Stones and the whole song obviously, you know the songs about them and drinking beer but you know, it’s I guess it’s ironic that my first thing was “Some Girls” and the Stones had a number one song called “Some Girls” too. And we snuck it into the first verse: ‘Some girls out on the dance floor about to make a grown man cry,’ so… no, it was awesome writing this song with these guys are some of my best buddies and can’t wait to play it live… I have yet to play it live. So yeah, it’s gonna be fun. Hope y’all dig it.

6. When You Think Of Mississippi

Intro Audio: When You Think Of Mississippi

Cut X Cut Audio: When You Think Of Mississippi

I’ve rented a cabin over east of Nashville for like the last three or four years and we go and camp out for four or five days and write a bunch of songs. And “When You Think of Mississippi,” was just one that kind of came from that trip. We didn’t really I mean, it wasn’t like a it wasn’t like we knew like it wasn’t like a huge hook that we had to the song. We’re just kind of we started with Mississippi and I’m just pumped that you know, we that that cabin… The magic in the air at that cabin kind of produces some of the songs and I’m just I’m glad it produced “When You Think of Mississippi,” and glad I got to ride it with some of my best buddies here.

7. Desert

Intro Audio: Desert

Cut X Cut Audio: Desert

I wanted to talk about one of the tracks off the new EP “In It for the Money”. This one’s “Desert”, wrote it with my boys, Josh Miller, Smith Ahnquist, Jake Mitchell. And, one of my personal favorites from the EP.  I wrote it with these guys at the, at the cabin like we like we’ve done so many before. We were writing another song, I can’t remember how late it was. But I remember we were writing another song that I was digging. Yeah. And so I went upstairs and I was talking with Falcon got a drink or something and came back down and they were starting “Desert.” And it’s like, it’s probably hard to believe that we didn’t write that during a pandemic, you know what I mean? But we actually wrote it a few years before pandemic and you know, the one of the lines in the courses you know, the ‘lows sure make the highs better and you know, last year was definitely a low for probably most people and so, you know, hopefully the song I don’t know, put some people in a good mood. It’s a special song so hope y’all dig it.

About Jameson Rodgers: iHeartRadio Music Awards Best New Country Artist nominee Jameson Rodgers is quickly cementing his place as one of country music’s most intriguing singer/songwriters. Not only does the Mississippi native currently find himself enjoying the success of his Gold-certified No. 1 hit “Some Girls” and his follow-up smash “Cold Beer Calling My Name” featuring label mate Luke Combs, but the 33-year-old is now utilizing these addictive songs as the firm foundation for his new EP, In It for the Money . It’s all a part of a journey that began in 2010, when Rodgers moved to Nashville and started laying the groundwork of his career at a myriad of open mic nights in Music City. Soon, Rodgers’ talent as a songwriter began to get noticed, as he co-penned Platinum-selling hits for Florida Georgia Line (Top 10 single “Talk You Out of It”) and Chris Lane (No. 1 smash “I Don’t Know About You”), along with “Camouflage Hat” on Jason Aldean’s most recent album 9 and the title track of Luke Bryan’s latest release Born Here Live Here Die Here . In 2019, Rodgers found himself in arenas of screaming fans as an opener on Combs’ tour, only to find himself off the road in 2020 due to the pandemic. But it is this time that offered him the chance to create a new EP that takes bits and pieces of Rodgers’ truth and puts them together into a project in which a shy guy speaks loud about life and love and lessons learned.
