Jake Owen made a big splash with the release of his second album, Easy Does It, which debuted this week at number-two on the country sales chart! That’s a mighty nice feeling for Jake, who certainly wants to entertain with his songs, but he also makes a goal of writing and finding music that connects on a deeper level, too. “I just want people to take somethin’ away from my music,” he says, whether it’s the theme of love over money that runs through his current smash, “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You” or the message of unconditional love and support of parents allowing their children to find their own path in life that rings through another poignant Easy Does It track, “Nothin’ Grows in Shadows.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- Delivering songs with meaning is a continuing goal with Jake, and he looks back to his debut album and a hit like the title track, “Startin’ with Me,” as another great example.

“I just want people to take somethin’ away from my music, a lot like a lot like ‘Startin’ with Me’ was…’Don’t Think I Can’t Love You.’ There’s a message that I really want…that needs to be said, you know? I don’t want to ever sing a song about somethin’ that just, you know, is kind of like, ‘Okay, whatever.'”
