JAKE OWEN: Going for Seconds

Jake Owen is on the road and on the radio now with the undeniable summertime energy of “Eight Second Ride” — and with fair and festival season also in full summertime groove, we thought we’d ask festival-pro Jake for ideas on edibles that go down as easy as his music. He’s got his favorites, and a few pointers — in fact, he kids, “I could live at festivals” — but the big food winner: funnel cake! (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • “Eight Second Ride” is not to be missed! Look for it, along with the smash first single, “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You,” both on Jake’s latest album, Easy Does It.
  • Be sure to keep an eye on jakeowen.net for all the latest Jake news, including tour dates — and maybe some fairs with funnel cake — near you!
  • Clearly, there’s something about funnel cakes! They get the nod from Miranda Lambert, too, in this fun story from the archives about funnel cake overload: http://prep.hearsomethingcountry.com/2009/05/07/miranda-lambert-funnel-cakes-corn-dogs/

JAKE OWEN: Going for Seconds  Jake Owen talks about his favorite foods at a festival. (:32)
“Favorite festival food is tough. It’s kind of up in the air between funnel cake — I mean, you cannot beat a funnel cake. Not a big elephant ear fan, can’t say I’m a fan of the elephant ear, but funnel cake is pretty amazing. And then if I’m gonna go health route — which is hard to find at the festival — I do like myself a nice prime rib sandwich, or a steak sandwich, you know? So, but cotton candy’s pretty good. Umm, (laughs) beer’s always good. I’m pretty much…I could live at festivals…I could be a carny.”
