JAKE OWEN: American Life Lesson

audio

Jake Owen‘s new album, American Love, not only marks his 5th full album release, but it also marks 10 years with his record label. In looking back over that time Jake says one thing he’s learned along the way is “patience.” He also reflects on that fact that life doesn’t stop when you’re making music, so there was a lot of lessons learned in the songs he recorded. Jake shares that “I learned a lot about me through the music, songs that I recorded, songs I wish that I recorded, songs that I recorded that never were heard.” One song he’s glad that he recorded, and is definitely being heard, is “American Country Love Song”– the first single from American Love is inside the top 10 this week!

audio  Jake Owen reflects on the lessons life, and his music, have taught him over the years. (:62)
“I think, number-one, patience for sure I’ve learned along the way, but, I think I’ve learned a lot about myself. I’ve gone through a lot in the 10 years, you know it’s one thing to say 5 albums, it’s another thing to look at it in years. I’ve been here at RCA for 10 years, and that’s a third of my life and during that time of course I made those 5 albums, but I also lived life. I learned a lot about me, I learned a lot about other people, I learned a lot about me through the music, songs that I recorded, songs I wish that I recorded, songs that I recorded that never were heard, and so I think for me I just over this process and over this time doing this and it being my 5th, it’s something where I really kind of found throughout this time a place where I feel comfortable in what I want to say, and how I want my music to be presented and how I wanted the brand of who I am as a touring artist to be represented. Probably just in one word to sum that up is that I’m just really comfortable, I’m feeling really comfortable with everything that I’ve made.”
