Jake Owen‘s newest song is called “The One That Got Away” — it’s a song that Jake co-wrote based on a real-life experience years ago, and Jake tells us that it feels kind of wild sometimes when a personal story from his life turns out to be something that a lot of people relate to. “It’s an interesting thing to watch somethin’ that you write that’s a personal experience turn into an experience that everyone relates to. You don’t think of that when you go to write it, but, like, it’s just one of the perks of the job to watch something just really relate to someone that you’d have never in a million years thought that would have happened, but it’s also what allows us to keep on keepin’ on havin’ a job and pay the bills and things like that, so it’s…I’m (laughs)…I’m very thankful that people relate to my music.”
